As the second impeachment trial of former president Donald Trump began on Feb. 9, his attorneys played a brief video showing various Democratic elected officials calling for Trump to be impeached. Various members of the House Democratic caucus were shown at various points of Trump’s presidency, claiming that the then-president deserved impeachment and would be subject to it — an effort by Trump’s legal team to present the current iteration of the punishment as nothing more than political point-scoring.
