The Times: Putin’s bodyguard of lies has overtaken Russia
Russian President Vladimir Putin at the presidential residence in Minsk on Feb. 11.
At the Tehran Conference in 1943, in the midst of a discussion about deception plans for D-day, Churchill turned to Stalin and famously remarked: "The truth is so precious she should always be attended by a bodyguard of lies." Stalin's response is less well-known: "This is what we call military cunning."
