The Russian army is still very dangerous in Ukraine, and in the face of continuing resistance from Ukrainian forces is in it for the long haul and should not be underestimated, an American site has written.

The author said that despite shortcomings in the early weeks of the war, Russian President Vladimir Putin has framed it as matter of survival and that his forces are using tried and tested fire power “delivered by cannons, rockets, missiles, and bombs.” It described Russia as a “plodding bear” that possesses experience from past conflicts of using artillery to conquer and infantry to occupy.

The author also expressed fears that Russian reliance on brute force and indiscriminate use of fire power would only get worse in Eastern Ukraine as the war continues.
