Tim Judah: We must keep faith in Ukraine and demand an end to corruption
Two years ago Ukraine was in the throes of revolution against the government of President Viktor Yanukovich, following his sudden decision to ally with Moscow. One year ago its soldiers were fighting to fend off a pro-Moscow insurgency backed by the Russian army. Since then Ukraine’s soldiers have done a remarkable thing: stopped the advance of rebels and their Russian backers. The import of this has not been grasped fully in the west. Nor have the new risks faced by Kiev or the implications should its reformers fail.
