Today’s Zaman: Predictably, Ukraine is not listening
Ukraine is a complex country, but also a country of significant potential -- a regional lynch pin, sitting on valuable hydrocarbons and some of the most fertile soils in Europe. However, since independence in 1991, Ukraine's development and modernization has been slow, burdened by its Soviet past and by a series of wholly unscrupulous political elites who have delivered little more than disappointment. Personal gain has been more important than the welfare of society or the development of the country.
