Conservatives have been warning for years about the dangerous consequences of America’s global retreat under President Obama, and events from France to Ukraine to Syria to the South China Sea bear out the point. So it’s a shame the lesson seems lost on Donald Trump and his advisers, some of whom ought to know better.
