His every action, as seen today, works against Yushchenko. Deputy presidential secretariat head Roman Besmertnyi’s ridiculous attack on Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko ahead of her Moscow visit was published in Friday’s
Ukrainian media. He claimed thatRussia’s Federal Security Bureau, successor to the KGB, had her on a hook through blackmaildating back to her time as head of gas-import giant United Energy Systems in the 1990s.
The Besmertnyi statement was issued in the morning but then withdrawn in the
afternoon from the presidential web site. Its easy to understand why. All of the comments on the web sites where the statement was posted were extremely hostile to the president and to Baloga.
After this fiasco I wonder if Baloga has left Yushchenko even the 2.4 percent support among Ukrainianshe had earlier this month in a Democratic Initiatives poll.
