After months of rumors or a possible resignation, Vladislav Surkov, proverbially known as “Putin’s Rasputin,” was reappointed as Putin’s advisor. Surkov is considered to be an unofficial curator of Russia’s policy in Ukraine, and particularly, the Russian-run pseudo-states in eastern Ukraine, the Donetsk and Luhansk “People’s Republics” (“DNR,””LNR”).
