On Sept. 16 in the post “Removing Coordinated Inauthentic Behavior From Iraq and Ukraine” on Facebook Newsroom, Facebook’s Head of Cybersecurity Policy Nathaniel Gleicher wrote that the company took down multiple pages, groups, and accounts involved in what Facebook defines as coordinated inauthentic behavior on the social networks Facebook and Instagram. Two unconnected groups of misleading accounts conducted two unconnected “operations” originated in Iraq and Ukraine, according to Facebook.
