2507 people in Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast perform kolomyika
2507 people sang and danced kolomyika and set Ukrainian record in the category ‘Mass events’. The event was held within the 14th International folklore and ethnographic festival ‘Kolomyika 2016’.
Kolomyika is a Hutsul music genre combining a fast paced folk dance and goofy-rhymed verses.
The festival aim is to develop and search various forms of folklore, customs, traditions and rituals from different regions of Ukraine and other countries. That is why the festival was attended by representatives of many regions of Ukraine, Poland and Moldova.

Ukrainian designers to show their collections in Chicago
August 6, 2016, the Institute of Ukrainian Contemporary Art (Ukrainian Village, Chicago) will host the 5th UaModna Fashion Show, the event that will be participated by young designers from Ukraine, Moldova and US.
This year the show visitors will see collections of such famous Ukrainian designers as Tetiana Shchurova (Dnipro), Tetiana Palii (Lviv) and ‘Synii lon’ brand (Dnipro).
Apart from Ukrainian designers Olga Turkina (Chisinau, Moldova), Iryna Lysa (New York) and ‘ta Fleur’ brand (Chicago, USA) will also present their collections.

15-year-old girl from Kyiv conquers Hollywood
Sofia Tarasova from Kyiv won 3 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze medals and Junior Industry Award at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) held in Hollywood.
The girl could leave behind 64 contestants and won awards in two categories, vocal and model. By the way, Sofia was the only representative of Ukraine.
Sofia Tarasova is a winner of the International Contest of young singers of popular music ‘New Wave – 2013’ and prize-winner (2nd place) of ‘Junior Eurovision 2013’ song contest.

‘New Ukrainian School’ in Sydney opens a unique study class
‘New Ukrainian school’ in Sydney opened a new class in Parramatta district.
Apart from learning Ukrainian language in live communication form, children can also learn to play the bandura.
‘We hope that our class will inspire Ukrainian communities all over the world for opening more and more classes like ours because Ukrainian language and bandura is an integral component of Ukrainian ethnicity’, the school organizers said.

Ukrainian youth diaspora from 30 countries to visit Vinnytsia
August,22-27 Vinnytsia will greet participants of Ukrainian Youth Diaspora Forum ‘Vinnytsia 2016’. Delegates from about 30 countries are going to attend the event.
The Forum agenda includes:
– thematic sessions and panels on ‘The main directions of development of the diaspora youth movement’, ‘Information and communication potential of Ukrainians in the world, ‘Attracting investments through cooperation with the diaspora and economy development of Ukraine’ and ‘Preservation of the national identity of diaspora youth through culture and education’;
– trainings, meetings and sightseeing tours (for the diaspora youth).
The Forum is organized by the World Congress of Ukrainian Youth Organizations under support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine and Vinnytsia local authorities.
