Vinnytsia locals gather about 60,000 hryvnias for Ukrainian army

September, 6 Vinnytsia celebrated the City Day. Instead of lavish celebrations a series of charitable actions such as fat festival, rock concert, fair of hand-made goods, workshops (Petrykivka painting, dolls, bead and ribbon weaving, painting of ginger cookies, body art), photo exhibition etc. was arranged. All events were aimed at raising funds for the needs of the Ukrainian army. Totally, locals and guests of the city managed to gain over 60 000 hryvnias.

Ukraine and U.S are starting Black Sea trainings

September 8-10, 2014 Ukrainian and American Navy will take part in the Sea Breeze-2014 military trainings. The main objective of the exercises is to establish and preserve navigation security zone in crisis area. The trainings participants will master skills on civil navigation control in specific areas, trespasser ships search and finding, inspection operations, shipwrecks assistance. The event will be held under the motto ‘Partnership for Friendship’, thus, Spain, Canada, Romania, Turkey will take part in the trainings. The militaries of Georgia, Norway, Sweden and France are invited as trainings watchers.

200 publishers and 300 authors from 23 countries are coming to Lviv

September 11-14, 2014 the 21st Lviv International Book Fair and Literature Festival to be held in Lviv. The fair involves 55 locations, 700 events, participation of 200 publishers and 300 authors from 23 countries. The festival agenda includes ‘The Best Book of the Fair-2014’ award ceremony; kids reading festival Knyhomania (64 participants from most of Ukrainian regions and winners of Ukrainian kids reading competition); ‘The Third Age: Satisfaction From Reading’ charity campaign; ‘Young Poets’ Republic’ festival (147 young poets sent their poetry to competition, it is twice as many as last year); The Night of Poetry and Music; Lviv Library Forum (more than 100 librarians from Ukraine and Poland to participate); Celebration of 440 anniversary of Ivan Fedorovych Bukvar (ABC) and ‘Apostol’ publishing, 200 years of Taras Shevchenko’s birthday and 150 years of Mykhailo Kotsyubynskiy’s birthday etc.

Maidan in sand animation to be shown in Dnipropetrovsk

September 14, 2014, on the Day of City, the second International Sand Animation Festival to be held in Dnipropetrovsk. The best sand animators from Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus will get together at the festival.

The festival theme is Maidan and military confrontation in Eastern Ukraine. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. at Dnipropetrovsk bund.

French include Ternopil three-side clock to the world heritage

A unique clock to be installed in Ternopil in September 2014. It is the second world’s three-side clock, the first one is located in France.

The restored clock has been already included by French website to World Clock Heritage, collection of unique and unusual clocks.

‘Among 60 clocks I have already made three were included into this register only’, Oleksiy Burnaev, the watchmaker, says. – ‘Lviv clock was included just after 5 years of service, as it is the only clock in the world working in freezing temperature and moving snow with its hands’.

Right now the watchmaker prepares photos of renovation process.
