The first Ukraine preschoolers will learn Slovak

Uzhgorod became the first Ukrainians city to open a
group of kindergarten where children will learn and communicate in Slovak. ‘Your
land is well-known outside due to its tolerant attitude to numerous ethnic
groups and nationalities. Therefore, every minority must be provided with a right
to raise their children in their mother tongue.

Slovaks are pleased that they have the opportunity to
participate in this process. Though, of course, this does not mean that their
children will not learn Ukrainian’, Consul General of the Slovak Republic in
Uzhgorod Janka Burianova comments.

The need for such group is evidenced by the fact that
at the moment parents are applying for the group to study next year. So there
is a possibility that study groups in other languages of national minorities
will open in Zakarpattia Oblast.
