100 people in
Ivano-Frankivsk to make the city comfortable for locals and guests

100 people, namely, entrepreneurs, deputies, municipal
enterprises employees, teachers, restaurant-owners, social activists from
Ivano-Frankivsk, Kryvyi Rih, Odesa, Lviv, Kyiv, Huston, Chicago, Moscow, became
co-owners of the first Ukraine’s social restaurant Urban Space 100. The
restaurant is unique by the fact that all net profit will go to development and
realization of social projects in Ivano-Frankivsk. The social projects will be
focused on creating comfortable and people-friendly city.

The restaurant opening is scheduled for December 2014.

Kyiv ‘Peace and Unity’
Rally to
cook ‘peaceful recipe’ for the country

October 4, 2014 ‘Peace and Unity’ Rally will be held in
Kyiv. The Rally participants will gather a unique ‘recipe’ to unite Ukrainians
and bring back peace to the country. The event organizers consider this
campaign to be the first step to refocus Ukrainians from war to peace. The
rally starts at 3 p.m at the Central
Department Store, goes along Khreschatyk str., Independence Square (Maidan), European
Square and finishes near the People’s Friendship Arch where the concert starts
at 4 p.m. After the concert the big flashmob is
planned. The flashmob participants, namely, circus actors, equilibrists and
stunts will make ‘live’ word PEACE. The figure will be 10 m high, and 24 m
wide.

During the rally its participants will gather ‘recipes of
unity’, peaceful messages containing advices and recommendations for nation
unity and consolidation.

Ukrainian book enters the
most prestigious worldwide kid’s book catalogue

‘Who can make snow?’ book by Taras and Mariana Prokhasko is
included into the White Ravens, the most prestigious kids’ book catalogue. Ukrainian
book was highly evaluated by the following criteria: literature style and
design, theme universality, artwork innovation.

‘Who can make snow?’ is BBC Book of the Year – 2013
winner (Kids’ Book nomination), LitAccent-2014 awardee (Poetry and Prose for
Kids nomination) and Book of the Year-2013 first place winner.

The White Ravens is a list of 250 best kids’ books from
more than 40 countries. The catalogue has been published every year since 1996.
The experts choose the best books among those sent to International Youth
Library (IYL) in Munich.

Lviv is more
people-friendly city than Lublin

Representatives of a Lublin public organization Rok Jana
Gehla shared their opinion about Lviv and listed TOP-7 initiatives making Lviv
locals’ life more comfortable. They are: big
number of street benches to encourage people’s communication; street
names and street signs transliteration to facilitate navigation about the city
center; park mini-springboards; separate
bicycle lane between two traffic lanes; flowerbeds to
prevent illegal parking and decorate the city; themed
kiosks to be compatible with city décor, and bicycle
parking to prevent illegal car parking.

The first
Ukraine House opens in Beijing

Under the auspices of Chinese company Xinwei Telecom
Industry Group and Embassy of Ukraine in China the first Ukraine House opens in
Beijing.

It is objective is to establish, develop and improve
economic, trade and culture relations between two countries. The bilateral
Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on inauguration ceremony. It implies
cooperation between the Ukraine House and its partners, namely, Ukraine-China
Friendship Society, ICC, travel company Pan Ukraine and Tourism Academy,
Ukrainian Amber World Association, Sun-Craft Center LLC company.
