TOP-23 Ukrainians’ favorite places is ready

August, 8 – September
20, 2014 ‘My favourite place in Ukraine’ polling had been holding in Facebook.
The polling was timed to the Day of Tourism of Ukraine. The participants were
invited to send 1-2 photos of their favourite Ukraine’s place for visit and
rest, and give the place brief.

1.Kinburn Spit
(Mykolaiv Oblast)

‘A quiet paradise
between Dniepro-Buh Estuary and the Black Sea penetrated with thyme scent and
warm water. It is paradise for birds and fish’.

2. Odesa city

‘For me this city has
its interesting and unique atmosphere. I visit it mostly for the festival (2
days and 2 nights). I am amazed with local architecture, aborigines and kittens
in old Odessa patios’.

Four countries initiated ‘Memory of Maidan’ project

The work on
International Project ‘Memory of Maidan’ has been started in Kyiv. Its aim is
to preserve memories about the events happened in Ukraine in 2013-2014. The
project implies verbal Maidan history presented in interviews (total duration
is 55 hours) and video interviews (49 interviews of 70 hours duration). The
archive will be kept in the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. The project
co-creators are Preservation Fund of Maidan Memory, Ukrainian Institute of
National Memory (Ukraine), Borys Hrinchenko Kyiv University (Ukraine), Bremen
University (Germany), Vytauto Didžiojo University (Kaunas, Lithuania), Ilia
Chavchavadze University (Tbilisi, Georgia).

 

German festival to present Ukrainian poetry

Olena Samoylenko and
Angela Bohachenko will take part in ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival to be held in
Berlin. The both poetesses are winners of CYCLOP-2013 Video Poetry Festival.
Olena Samoylenko’s work topped in Experiment nomination and took second place;
Angela Bohachenko’s video on her own poem ‘Your house is far away from us’ is a
bronze prize-winner of the competition.

ZEBRA Poetry Film
Festival, founded in 2002 in Berlin, is the first and the oldest poetry film
festival. Every two years this event gets together directors, poets and artists
from all over the world. It offers seminars, readings, lectures, colloquiums.
ZEBRA Poetry Film Festival aim is to discover new aspects of poetry. More than
200 short movie readings are included into festival program each year. This
year more than 700 applications were sent to the festival.

 

Ukrainians language is getting more popular in Poland

Polish internet
portal Port Europa launched free online course on Polish language for
Ukrainians and Ukrainian language for Poles. To study Polish language one just
need to subscribe and every 3-4 days materials will be sent to the registered
email. The portal also offers equivalent free course on Ukrainian language.

‘Still 10 years ago
Poles were sure that in the former USSR countries there is no alternative for
Russian as a foreign language. Nowadays Ukrainian as a foreign language isn’t
weird, it has become attractive. Poles always talk about situation in Ukraine,
good feelings for Ukraine are growing. It motivates Poles to study at least
basically Ukrainian language’, Jakub Loginov, the author of the course,
mentions.

The portal also plans
to launch similar course on Byelorussian language as a gratitude to for
supporting Maidan.

 

First Ukrainian 3D animation won in Canada

The first Ukrainian
3D stereo animation ‘Fish-tailed Girl’ by Serhiy Melnichenko won Honorable
Mention award at the prestigious International animation festival Ottawa International
Animation Festival held on September 17-21, 2014. The film is a story about the
girl who found herself in a fantastic world. She sets out for a trip full of
adventures and the trip makes her think about questions concerning all the
people of all ages.

‘Fish-tailed Girl’ is
a prizewinner of Open Night. Double 17 festival and participant of the national
program of Odesa International Film Festival.

The next festival
stop is TOFUZI 2014 scheduled for October 8-11, 2014.
