Lviv of 1772-1775 to
be showcased in Wroclaw
Lviv panorama of 1772-1775 to be exhibited in September
2015 in Hala Stulecia, Wroclaw. Currently Polish specialists are restoring
plastic panorama of the Ukrainian city, which was created in 1930 by
architecture Janusz Witwiski.
The panorama model scale is 1:2000, located on six discs
of 2×2.1m each one. The ancient Lviv panorama is presented by houses, churches,
monasteries, totally about 300 buildings.
‘The buildings are made of cardboard and plywood covered
with copper and lead. The creators used wires and even celluloid’, Adam
Grosowski, the restorer, said. ‘They all are made with high fidelity preserving
all architectural details. Every chimney and every window is perfectly
recreated. Moreover, for giving the city a historical touch the authors
intentionally underlined the antiquity of the buildings by recreating their
spots, cracks and exterior damages’.
The exhibition in Wroclaw will be the first official
presentation of Lviv panorama of the 18th century (even Lviv locals have not
had an opportunity to see it yet).
