Eurovision guests to hear unusual performances of the contest hits
Ruslana, Jamala, Oleh Skrypka, rock band ‘Druha Rika’ and the National Academic Orchestra of Folk Instruments of Ukraine will perform at the opening ceremony housed by Convention and Exhibition Center ‘Parkovy’.
The musical part will start after representatives of all countries-contestants hoist the flags on the roof of the center.
In addition to accompany performances of Ruslana, Jamala, Oleh Skrypka, band ‘Druha Rika’ the orchestra will play Eurovision hits of the previous years.
The solemn ceremony will be live broadcast on big screens installed on the territory of Eurovision Village on Khreshchatyk Street.

Now foreigners can easily learn Ukrainian language
‘Ukrainian language for foreigners’ manual will help citizens of other countries to learn Ukrainian. As Natalia Havdyda, one of the authors, the book combines cultural and communicative-grammar aspects.
The manual consists of 8 modules: 17 topics (‘My family and I’, ‘House’, ‘Services’ (Restaurant. Trade. Bank. Hospital. Barber. Hotel. Station. Post-office)’, ‘Scientific discoveries’, ‘Traditions of Ukraine’); comprehensive Ukrainian-English dictionary; questions to the texts; tables to learn Ukrainian grammar, and practical exercises.
The highlight of the manual is tasks based on the texts of Ukrainian songs.

Best Made in Ukraine rose wine to be chosev at Uzhhorod ‘Sakura Wine’ fest
April 21-23, Uzhhorod will host the first wine festival ‘Sakura Wine’ dedicated to the most colorful phenomenon of the city and the region in general, sakura blossom.
The festival is to develop the wine culture in Zakarpattia Oblast and to present potential of the region to tourists and local residents.
The festival program includes: sakura alley planting; lectures and tastings from reputable Ukrainian sommeliers and winemakers; film shows; selection of the best made in Ukraine rose wine.

Kyiv Lights Festival will be held during Eurovision Song Contest
May 12-14, during the Eurovision Song Contest Kyiv Lights Festival, the first international festival of light and media art, will be held.
Within three days the architectural outlook of the city will be greatly changed due to video graphic designers, artists of light and laser, VJs and contemporary artists.
Kontraktova Square, Poshtova Square near the River Station, St.Michael’s Square and Andrew’s Descent will be served as locations for the light show.
Every day there will be a 3D-mapping contest, non-competitive projects accompanied by live music, large-scale light shows, exhibitions of works by contemporary Ukrainian artists working with light, multiple light installations and sculptures in urban space.

Public and culture figures of Ukraine and Austria to meet at Viennese Ball
This October Kyiv will host a charity Viennese Ball, the funds raised will be spent on the ATO-veterans’ rehabilitation program and development of the city’s Center for disabled children rehabilitation.
Maryna Ihnatusha, CEO of the group of companies BrandBerg, the event organizer, ‘We decided to prove that Kyiv has all facilities and conditions to organize the event on all its rules and etiquette demands’.
As Mr.Herman Makarenko, Ukraine’s only holder of ‘UNESCO Artist for Peace’ title, the chairman of the organizing committee, says the ball will be participated by public and cultural figures of Austria and Ukraine.
Kyiv’s Ball will be held under support of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine, the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, municipalities of Vienna and Kyiv.
