‘Awesome Kyivto tell foreigners about the capital of Ukraine

Kyiv
city guide in English ‘Awesome Kyiv’ was presnted in Kyiv. According to Dana
Pavlychko, the director of publishing house ‘Osnovy’, the book is oriented on
foreigners and Ukrainians who want to know more about Kyiv than ordinary city
tours can offer.

‘Awesome
Kyiv’ consists of eight parts: History, Culture, Places, Food, Nature, Sport
and Technologies. The readers can find information not just about famous Kyiv
destinations but also get know about Hydropark, crematorium, Kyiv Motorcycles
Plant, Kazimierz Malewiczm Boris Paton, Ihor Sikorsky etc.

The
city guide includes 80 clauses specially developed by three Kyiv researchers.

The

Nazar Sesyk is
heading to the USA to play with the world famous maitres

10-years-old
Nazar Sesyk, a student of Kyiv Music School, will play piano with the world
maitres in Carnegie Hall. The trip to the USA is a grant award from Leonid Kuchma
Foundation ‘Ukraine’ (boy’s video won third place in USA).

Besides
Nazar, other talented grant-holders will also perform in different world
stages.

‘It’s
worth living when you see how many talented kids we have in Ukraine. They are
our firm belief in future’, Leonid Kuchma, the second president of Ukraine, comments.

The best teachers on
Ukrainian language are wanted

The
second phase of International Competition The Best Teacher of the Ukrainian
Language Abroad will run from January, 5 until June 1, 2015. The
competition purpose is to raise the prestige of Ukrainian language and find the
best teachers of the language working abroad. During the specified
period Ukrainian language teachers should submit their works, video of the
lessons given.

The
jury will choose winners in two nominations: Primary School Teacher and
Secondary School Teacher. The award ceremony is scheduled for August 24, 2015.

Ukrainian-German X-mas
miracles are being shown in Kyiv

International
Ukrainian-German Christmas Fair ‘Miracle-Christmas. Ukrainian and German
Christmas traditions: the parallels’ is held from December, 13 to January, 21,
2015 in the House of the Metropolitan at the National Sanctuary Complex ‘Sophia
of Kyiv’.

The
fair exhibits are mostly traditional items of Ukrainian folk Christmas
celebration – accessories of carolers, Christmas crib, Christmas icons,
diduches, traditional cookies and cookies cutters, Christmas tree decorations,
and other household articles.

The
exhibitions visitors can see the common traits of European spiritual culture,
and compare German and Ukrainian traditions as well.

The
Ukrainian side is represented by the National Sanctuary Complex ‘Sophia of
Kyiv’, National Museum of Folk Architecture and Culture of Ukraine, National
Center of Folk Culture ‘Museum of Ivan Honchar’, Museum of Theatre, Music and
Cinema of Ukraine; the German part is represented by Open Air Museum (the city
of Schliersee).

Mariynsky palace may
be tourist-available next autumn

Next
autumn Mariyinsky Palace can open its doors for tourists. This
Baroque palace designed by Bartolomeo Rastrelli has beed closed for visitors
for 10 years.

Currently
73 specialists are working at the palace restoration. Along with authentic look
the palace will get modern traits – Internet network, new security and fire
protection system, air conditioning and heating.

The
Hall Of Tributes, TV and radio broadcasting studio and pressroom will be the
first to be opened for public access.

The
future plans are focused on shoring foundation, left wing reflooring, central
building restoring (gilding, parget work, palace ancient interior – furniture,
paintings, statues). The visitors will be allowed to get there in three years
at least. The terms will depend on financing, as the full palace restoration
requires quite a big sum.

The
palace court fountain and coach court to be also renovated.
