Habsburg-Lothringen royal family unveils a monument in Kyiv

August 6, a monument ‘The Flame of Peace’ unveiled in Kyiv (Panas Myrnyi Street).

The Ambassador of the Peace Anastasia Zelenska and the members of Hapsburg-Lothringen royal family attended the solemn ceremony. The memorable sign is made of walnut tree and stone.

‘This monument should encourage all of us to act and think for peace on earth’, Mrs.Herth Margaret Habsburg-Lothringen, the founder and president of the ‘Flame of Peace’ Association and the ambassador of peace, said.

Ukraine tops medal standings at 2017 European Shooting Championship

Ukraine’s team won medal standings at 2017 European Shooting Championship held in Baku.

In 73 disciplines Ukrainians won 22 medals, 10 of them are gold. At the same time Pavlo Korostyliov set two European records (junior and adult) and Anna Iliina became the record holder in 50 m rifle three positions among the juniors. Russia and Italy ranked second and third respectively.

Odesa musician wins the prize at Prague Composition Competition

Anna Stoyanova, graduate student of Nezhdanova Odesa National Musical Academy, won a special prize at the 8th International Antonin Dvořák Composition Competition held in Prague.

The international jury awarded Anna for the best musical composition created on the motives of Antonin Dvořák’s music.

The contest was attended by 24 best young composers from 16 countries.

‘Ukrainian grammar’ book presentation in Brussels

August 24, in the framework of the Independence Day of Ukraine celebration, ‘Ukrainian grammar for Dutchspeakers’ book (‘Oekraïense grammatica voor Nederlandstaligen’) will be presented in Brussels (89 Wetstraat).

Thanks to the Association of Ukrainian Women in Belgium (OUB) the guests will be able to taste Ukrainian food and drinks, for example, borshch, holubtsi (cabbage rolls with rice and meat) and medovukha (honey drink).

The presentation will be accompanied with a concert and a lottery.

The event starts at 6 p.m.

Do not miss ‘Hutsul bryndza’, one of the tastiest festival of Zakarpattia Oblast

The traditional festival ‘Hutsul bryndza’ will take place in Rakhiv (Zakarpattia Oblast) on Sept. 3. The event is to promote culture, traditions, lifestyle, customs and traditional folk art of Hutsuls.

Master classes, a fair of souvenirs, regional dishes cooked open air and, of course, bryndza (sheep milk cheese) from local producers await the festival’s guests.

Traditionally, the sounds of trembita, mandolin, jaw harp and performances of musicians and singers will open the festival.
