Sofia Tarasova is Grand Prix Sanremo Junior winner
Sofia Tarasova, 14 y.o., won Grand Prix and first place at International Song and Music Contest Sanremo Junior held in Italy. Young singer sang a song ‘Please, Do not Make Me Love You’ accompanied by symphonic orchestra.
‘I am really happy! I was singing from my heart for Ukraine and I proved that Ukrainians are the most singing and talented nation’, Sofia commented.
Daryna Halytska, Dasha Pyshna and Hanna Voronova also won first place in their category and special awards.
The victory at Sanremo Junior is not the first big achievement for Sofia. She bested at Kids New Wave, won silver award winner at ‘JuniorEurovision’ and Grand Prix at International Song Contest ‘BERLINER PERL’ in Berlin, and Ukraine’s ‘Talented Kid’ title as well.

Four medals at European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad
Four lyceum students from Kharkiv and Kyiv represented Ukraine at European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO), Minsk, April 14-20.
The girls came back home with three golden and one silver medals.
The second place was taken by USA team and the third went to Serbian girls.
This year 109 teams from 30 countries including USA, India, Japan, Italy, France, Great Britain and Poland participated in the Olympiad.
Now the girls are preparing for the world Olympiad. Its first elimination tour is planned for this summer.
France to give €60 000 for Ukraine’s energy efficiency system development
The Ministry of regional development and housing and communal services of Ukraine managed to agree with French investors to finance projects on improvement energy efficiency of social objects.
Kharkiv, Rivne, Berdychiv (Zhytomyr Oblast) and Ladyzhyn (Vinnytsia Oblast) will be the first cities to get the support.
The project is said to be focused on school modernization (Ladyzhyn), building biomass boiler-house construction (Berdychiv), pump-station reconstruction (Kharkiv) and hospital modernization (Rivne).
Total financial support amount is €60 000.
Fashion Week Poland saw Ukrainian designers’ works
Two Ukrainian designers, Lesia Semi and Kateryna Tkachyk, showed their collections at Philosophy Fashion Week Poland held on April 16-19 in Łódź.
Kateryna Tkachyk, 19, from Kryvyi Rih (studying in Warsaw currently) received an honorary right to open Adrian WHO, Milidiami and Katarzyna Karkowska fashion shows.
Lesia Semi, active participant of Lviv Fashion Week, presented her new elegant and women collection prevailing in grey, black and dark blue colors.

International Peace League launched ‘Stop War’ bike ride
April, 26 ‘Stop War’ bike ride started in Baturyn city (Chernihiv Oblast). It lasts until October, 13.
The event is to call the world for peace and stop war in Ukraine.
The bike ride participants will visit more than 100 big cities of Europe, Canada and USA, and will climb Hoverla and Timpanogos (Utah, USA) mountains as well. During their stops in some cities (about 40) the cyclists will tell people about Ukraine, plant tree of peace and friendship, and play mini-football with locals.
The first stage of the bike ride goes through Ukraine’s territory. The second stage will be in EU, the third and fourth stages finish in the USA and Canada.
The bike ride is arranged by International Peace League founded during protests in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities in 2014.
