Kyrylo Karabyts to conduct German National Theatre

38 y.o. Kyrylo Karabyts was elected a new Chief Conductor of German National Theatre in Weimar.

Kyrylo graduated from Lysenko Music School, the National Tchaikovsky Music Academy in Kyiv and Vienna Musikhochschule. He served as a chief associate conductor of Strasburg Philharmonic, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and Budapest Festival Orchestra.

He is a winner of numerous international contests including the most prestigious British classical music prize, Royal Philharmonic Society Music Award.

Odesa stairs awarded ‘Treasure of European Film Culture’

‘Treasure of European Film Culture’ Memorial Sign was opened at Potemkin Stairs as a part of 6th Odesa International Film Festival. The inaugurating ceremony took place at Primorsky Boulevard at Duc de Richelieu monument.

With this Memorial Sign European Film Academy (unites more than 3000 experts, including 14 Ukrainian, to promote European movies) strives to improve public awareness of places, which are significant for European Cinematography and must be preserved for next generations.

Similar Memorial Signs have been already installed in Lion (France) on The Lumière Brothers’ house facade; Moscow, on Eisenstein Museum; Sweden, Bergman Center and Pennabilli, Italy, Museum Tonino Guerra World.

Anastasia Yarovenko’s work wins Kunsthalle Wien 2015 prize

Anastasia Yarovenko is among the winners of prestigious art award Kunsthalle Wien 2015 (this year joint project of Kunsthalle Wien, Vienna Applied Art University and Visual Art Academy).

The installation-winner ‘Mimikria’ is Anastasia’s attempt to present objects which lose their sense without interconnection with them.

The other winner is Karina Mendretski from Hungary.

The award prize fund is EUR 3,000.

The award ceremony is planned for November at Kunsthalle Wien open exhibition. At the same time the catalogue of works-winners published by Sternberg Press will be presented.

Sorochynsky Fair 2015 is under ‘Ukraine is a big family’ motto

August 18-23, 2015 Sorochynsky fair will present the best Ukrainian ceramists, spoon players, embroidery craftsmen, carpenters, cart-wrights, fur clothing makers, harness makers, tar producers, bublik makers and tailors.

The motto of this year fair is ‘Ukraine Is a Big Family’, the whole art program is focused on family, its values and togetherness.

The Fair agenda includes: ancient exposition of Ukrainian rushnyks ‘Ukrainian House Is Rich In Rushnyks’; pottery craft exhibition from Opishnia village (Poltava Oblast), heart of Ukrainian pottery; interactive performance themed on Nikolay Gogol’s novel ‘Sorochynsky Fair; Ukrainian traditional wedding accompanied with folk songs, dances, sincere love, jokes, korovai, salo, halushky and borshch tasting; presentation of Ukrainian, Georgian, Armenian, Azerbaijan, Uzbek and other national cuisines (restaurants from Lviv, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Odesa, Poltava will be exhibited at Fair).

The first Ukrainian agricultural cluster is launched in Krarkiv Oblast

Innovation and educational cluster ‘Agrotekhnika’ created in Kharkiv Oblast as a part of Lozova Forging-Mechanical Plant producing agricultural machinery.

The cluster unites plants, farms and agricultural universities. Earlier Lozova Forging-Mechanical Plant cooperated just with Kharkiv National Techincal University of Agriculture. Now the list of educational institutions is significantly extended: Universities from Sumy, Mykolaiv, Melitopol (Zaporizhzhia Oblast) have joined as well.

The cluster will encourage domestic production development, agrarians will get cheap domestic machinery and universities will test seeding-machines and harrows for further improvements (being tested on so-called research fields different machine defects are detected and fixed by engineers).
