Model in wheelchair shows ‘How to
break the chains’


Because of doctors’ fatal error a
21-year-old Oleksandra Kutas from Dnipropetrovsk is
wheelchair-bound since birth.
However, despite everything the girl is sure her abilities
won’t keep her from her cherished
dream – to model at New York Fashion Week.

‘I want to be a model since I am 16.
Once one photographer saw me in a restaurant and
invited for a shoot. I liked it so
much that I definitely decided to become a model’,
Oleksandra says.

Ukrainian photograph Andriy
Sarymsakov tried to bring public attention to handicapped
people and initiated a project
‘Break Your Chains’.

‘I want Ukrainians to see that it is
possible to be successful and happy even for the
people like Oleksandra. The most
important is moral courage and social support’,
Andriy comments.

Oleksandra and Andriy plan to
present ‘Break Your Chains ‘project abroad as the first
and the only in Ukraine photo
exposition with a model in wheelchair.

ATO soldiers transform energy of war
into energy of art


‘Ukrposhta’ enterprise and
All-Ukrainian Art Charity Project ‘ART-Combat’ released a
series of unlabeled art envelopes
with reproductions of paintings created by 10
demobilized ATO soldiers.

All these works are penetrated with
the same theme, love to life.
ART-Combat initiators say that art
therapy is the basic principal of ATO veterans and
their families’ rehabilitation
program.

‘The envelopes with these paintings
raise the feeling of patriotism and pride for our
guys. This way ”Ukrposhta’ tries to
support our soldiers and bring to every Ukrainian the
importance of such attention and
support. Let’s these envelopes travel the whole world’,
Ihor Tkachuk, ‘Ukrposhta’ director
comments.

The envelopes can be purchased at
all ‘Ukrposhta’ offices.

Yevdokiya Bohachova wins children’s
painting competition organized by United
Nations

A painting by 12-years-old Yevdokiya
Bohachova bested among European
representatives at 24th
International Children’s Painting Competition held by UN. This
year the competition was named as
‘We Have A Power’ and devoted to sustainable
energy.

The competition jury was impressed
by the painting originality and clarity of competition
theme interpretation.

The young artist was inspired by the
military conflict in Ukraine, ‘In some regions people
have problems with energy saving,
heat and water supply. It makes me sad because
people suffer instead of using
natural resources in for peaceful purposes’.

The competition prize was $1,000. As
a winner from Europe this year Yevdokiya’s
painting will participate in UN
children’s painting global competition.

Montreal to host 16th Ukrainian
festival


September,11-13 Montreal is going to
host 16th Ukrainian festival.

The event agenda includes:

– performances of 40 dancers and
bands from Canada and Ukraine;

– free film screenings of acclaimed
Ukrainian films;

– free workshops for children and
adults;

– tasting Ukrainian dishes.

Vinnytsia artists created ‘rushnyk’
from 3200 ceramic tiles

It took one month to create a panel
from 3200 tiles painted by Vinnytsia citizens
(Ukrainian ornaments, national
symbols, kids drawings).

The ceramic ‘rushnyk’ occupies 72
square meters; it is 4 meters high and 18 meters
long.

The project initiator was artist
Oleksandr Nikityuk, the sketches were created by
Voodymyr Hodak.

All works will be completed by
Sept. 5 when Vinnytsia will celebrate its birthday.
