Ukrainian style and fashion festival to take place in Tel Avi

Nov. 6, Tel Aviv hosts Fashion Festival ‘Ukrainian style’. The event program includes: fashion show; fair and workshops on talisman dolls and other national symbols making; lecture about national costumes, symbols and flags of Israel and Ukraine; Ukrainian and Israeli singers’ performances.

Part of the money raised at the fair will go to Ukrainian and Israel charity.

The organizers are calling guests to come in vyshyvakas and participate in the competition on the most original costume, ‘The guests will penetrate into the world of Ukrainian fashion and will feel all the beauty of vyshyvanka, so popular nowadays’.

A series of children’s books about Cossack Bogdan to be published

Besides paper and e-books an interactive fairy-tale is being also developed

Ukrainian fairy-tales writer Oleksiy Zoredar has launched a Kickstater – money raising company ($3,500) to publish children’s patriotic fairy-tale about a great Cossack Bohdan. The project had been developed by Oleksiy on his proper assets within a year.

He plans to publish a series of five books, the fairy-tale about Bohdan is just the first of it. The fairy-tale tells about Ukrainian young guy Bohdan who goes to the Zaporozhian Sich to become a brave warrior and defend his Motherland from invaders. The main character will open a mystery of his lineage and become a real Cossack.

Besides entertaining and educational mission, the project has its social aim that is raising money for orphanages support.

The e-book costs $15, a set of paper and electronic copy is $27. The fairy-tale is offered in Ukrainian and English.

The author also plans to create a series of cartoons, fairy-tales and interactive toys for tablets.

Zakarpattia Oblast invites to young wine festivals

Zakapattia Oblast is famous for its wine traditions. Every autumn this region hosts several wine festivals.

November 14-15, Mukachevo celebrates the Day of St. Martin, the patron of the city: children’s parade with lanterns, theatrical performance, gastronomy tasting (baked potato, shashlik, sweets, honey products and wines).

Simultaneously, November 13-15, Berehove also celebrates the Day of St.Martin. The celebration will be held in the form of the Festival of young wine and goose dishes. The festival program includes young wine and goose dishes tasting, extraordinary contests and other activities.

November 14-15, Uzhhorod hosts long-awaited festival ‘Beaujolais of Zakarpattia’ that rooting to the XIX century in France. The festival, also known as ‘Born in Zakarpattia’, is going to present the best regional wines of the latest harvest. Traditionally, the festival is held at Sovyne Hnizdo area where the festival guests can try wines, honey, meet dishes and sweets. The old wine cellars and underground bars will also invite festival guests for a wine tasting.

Two Ukrainian universities among TOP-50 best East European universities

Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and National Technical University of Ukraine ‘KPI’ were included into TOP-50 Best Universities of Eastern Europe. Quacquarelli Symonds ranking, drawn up by British company, gave Ukrainian universities 39th and 48th places respectively.

While composing the rating the company was analyzing data of 500 universities including: scientific reputation, reputation among employers, correlation of university faculty and thesis issued by each department, the citation index (including citation of thesis), scientific knowledge of teaching staff and number of foreign faculties and students.

Some Ukrainian universities rated in 150 Best Universities: Karazin Kharkiv National University (55), Sumy State University (89), National Technical University ‘Kharkiv Polytechnic University’ (93); National University Lviv Polytechnic (96); Donetsk National University (98).

Ukraine, Iran and Czech Republic are shooting movie in Lvi Oblast

The shootings of Iranian-Czech-Ukrainian movie ‘Autumn Memories’ have been launched in Lviv Oblast (Lviv and Truskavets).

The plot is focused on a story of love and memories of Ukrainian activist, volunteer and fan of music who was wounded in ATO zone and comes for medical rehabilitation to Western Ukraine; and Iranian refugee girl and a man who surived a personal tragedy and tries to start over.

According to Viktor Wilhelm, the producer, the cross-cutting theme is a war witnessed by the main characters, which brings tragedies to people lives regardless of a country. However, under the war circumstances the main characters don’t lose the most important virtues, love and humanity.

One of the characters is played by Dmytro Linartovych, ‘My character is a volunteer from Donetsk who decided to defend Ukraine after participating in Maidan events. Being wounded he comes to Western Ukraine for rehabilitation and tries to start over. I have many friends who has been in ATO hottest battles and suffered as much as my character. Listening to their stories I flow them through myself in order to get into the character better’.

The movie premier is scheduled for the spring 2016 in all countries-producers.
