16 girls are competing for ‘Miss Ukrainian Canada 2016’ crown

July 16, at
Mississauga Living Arts Centre (Toronto,
Саnada) the cultural show Miss Ukrainian Canada 2016 final is held.

This year’s contest
judges selected 16 finalists: Mariia Soldatenko, Olga Kolesnikova, Anna
Movchaniuk, Daryna Porozhnyak, Valentyna Butenko, Iryna Zhytaryuk, Yanina
Bilyk, Ivanka Babiak, Olya Tanchak, Anastasiia Myronenko, Alina Totska,
Khrystyna Lazar, Anastasiya Hrynyak, Olena Ozhykhovska, Bohdana Kulia, Olivia
Semenick.

The event program
also includes fashion show by six Ukrainian designers such as Oksana Polonets,
Foberini, Chernikova, Kozzachka, Ina Tsaryk and Anna Marchuk.

Vasyl Lomachenko in The Rating top best boxers

The Ring, leading
magazine, presented an updated Pound for Pound rating.

After the victory
over Roman Martinez Vasyl Lomachenko could rank seventh in TOP-10 world’s best
boxers regardless of weight category.

The rating also
includes boxers from Nicaragua, Russia, Kazakhstan, the United States, Cuba,
Mexico and Japan.

Dublin Google Office orders Ukrainian Lamps

Fild, the young
Ukrainian design company, will sell a set of SO8 lamps to Dublin Google Office.

The wooden base of
the lamp is covered with the metal sheet visually resembling a sheet of paper.

FILD company was
established in 2012 in Kyiv by Denis Vakhramyeyev. A year later he was joined
by Kateryna Fedorenko (CEO).

In December 2014 the
company produced SUSTAINABLE ORIGINS, the first lamps and furniture collection.

In July 2015 FILD
presented its new collection with lamps, furniture abd decor items included.
Minimalist style, original geometry, practicality and functionality make FILD
items recognized.

FILD lamps can be met
in private and public interiors, both in Ukraine and Europe.

Holodomor documentary keeps touring around the world

Ariadna Ochrymovych,
an independent film producer, director, writer and educator based in Toronto,
has made several documentary films. The latest one is ‘Holodomor: Voices of
Survivors’. She has interviewed over 100 Holodomor survivors across Canada. The
film was made under the auspices and with the cooperation of the Ukrainian
Canadian Research and Documentation Center (UCRDC).

One of the film
version was cut to a 30-minute length for showing in the framework of the
‘Holodomor National Awareness Tour’, a mobile bus outfitted with electronic
equipment touring around schools, universities, government buildings and banks
of Canada.

‘Holodomor: Voices of
Survivors’ has won an award at the Peace on Earth Film Festival (Chicago), a
nomination for the best documentary at the Female Eye Film Festival (Toronto);
has been screened at festivals in Paris, Los Angeles, Bellingham (Wash.),
Jasper (Alberta), Freethought Film Festival (Orlando, Fla.), the Yorkton Film
Festival (where it is nominated for the Research Award) in Saskatchewan
(Canada).

Soon the film will be
shown at the International Short Film Festival in Selby (UK) on July, 30.

Ukrainian legendary sniper gets in comic book

“In World War II
the Nazis on the Eastern Front learned to fear one woman above others. She was
25 years old. She studied history at Kyiv University. Her name was Lyudmila
Pavlichenko. But the press called her ‘Lady Death’. She was the deadliest
female sniper to ever live’.

Lyudmila Pavlichenko
became a comic book heroine created by Rejected Princesses group of artists.

Rejected Princesses
offers illustrated stories about women too awesome, awful and offbeat for kid’s
movies.
