Chernivtsi-born girl wins ‘Miss Ukrainian Canada-2016’ title
Iryna Zhytaryuk (born in Chernivtsi but now living in the province of Saskatchewan) became ‘Miss Ukrainian Canada-2016’. The Grand Finale took place in Toronto on July,16.
Iryna was passionate about fashion world from her young age. She has had 5 personal collections, presented in different projects, and gained prizes in professional and creative competitions. At the final contest the girl presented the 6th collection reflecting Ukrainian culture and colors.
She has organized a charitable fashion show to help treat a girl with cerebral paralysis, and participated in charity auctions and concerts raising money for children with cancer, hearing disability, and orphans.

Barack Obama awards Ukrainian-origin psychologist
US President Barack Obama presented the National Medal of Science to Albert Bandura, Ukrainian-origin prominent psychologist. The Medal is annually awarded to scientists who have made an outstanding contribution to science, technology and engineering.
Albert Bandura is considered to be one of the world’s most influential psychologists. He is the originator of social learning theory and the theoretical construct of self-efficacy.
Albert Bandura has received more than sixteen honorary degrees, including those from the University of British Columbia, Alfred University, the University of Rome, the University of Lethbridge, the University of Salamanca in Spain, Indiana University, the University of New Brunswick, Penn State University, Leiden University, and Freie Universität Berlin, theGraduate Center of the City University of New York, Universitat Jaume I in Spain, the University of Athens and the University of Alberta, and University of Catania.

FAO to help Ukraine to improve its business climate
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and Ukraine signed the Framework Agreement for 2016-2019 years.
As the FAO Regional Office representatives say the highest priority of the agreements is business climate and establishing stable legal background that provides market integration and market access, support for seed production, and strengthen capacity to prevent transboundary animals’ diseases.
During the four-year collaboration it is also expected to work on appropriate food security policy and security policy of nutritional products, including monitoring, training, and FAO recommendations on methods, tools and best practices.

Philadelphia folk festival to celebrate Ukraine’s Independence Day
On the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, Ukrainian American Sport Center, Philadelphia, will become the venue for the annual Ukrainian Folk Festival to be held on August,28.
The event program includes dancing and singing; tasting of national dishes; folk art presentation.
Admission fee: $15 for adults, $10 for students and free for children under 15.
