Editor’s Note: The Kyiv Post held its annual Employment Fair on Sept. 13 in the Ukrainian Chamber of Commere and Industry. More than 1,000 people attended and more than 24 companies participated. The event included talks by such people as U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey R. Pyatt and Kyiv School of Economics president George Logush.

Victoria Agapitova, student of international economics

“I’m a master’s degree student, so the job question is topical for me. I’m interested in finding a company that would give me the possibility for self-development. That’s why I’m here. Such an event helps students to find their place in the world of employers. “

Andriy Lobun, financier

“There is a chance to communicate with employers here. I’m not searching for a job but accompanying my friend who needs it. Indeed, I think the range of spheres offered here is quite diverse, and it’s enough to choose.”

Daria Guram, barber

“I find the Employment Fair perfectly organized, so, anyway, there will be a chance to find something. The attitude to visitors is very good I took all the proposed brochures and will look for the vacancy at home.”

Konstyantyn Bovt, auditor

“I’ve had no expectations about the fair as I don’t usually visit such events. The format of communicating at the fair is quite new for me.”

Olga Halat, copywriter

“I am looking for a vacancy of an article writer, so I came here to observe how an employment fairs look like and at the same time to listen to the master classes, particularly those by (U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine) Geoffrey R. Pyatt and George Logush. The organization is great but it lacks variety of companies. The Kyiv Post is the best option I found here.”

George Logush, president of Kyiv School of Economics

“It’s a wonderful thing. I thought there will be more companies introduced, but we understand that the situation at the market shows there’re more candidates than vacancies. It’s a completely different thing to talk live to people here instead of looking for a job on the Internet. People usually ask for advice, so we share how to make a decision about a new job, etc.”
