Sasha Jason is a program associate at the Center for Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law within the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University.
Sasha Jason graduated with an M.A. in Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES) from the University of Michigan. Prior to this she also received her B.A. in Political Science and REEES from the same institution. Her research has focused on democratization and civil society in Ukraine, as well as technology usage in social movements.
She has experience working abroad, first at the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw, where she was responsible for publishing articles about Polish culture to facilitate cross-cultural understanding between Poland and an English-speaking audience. In Summer 2016 she worked with the Center for Democracy and Rule of Law (CEDEM) in Kyiv. There she provided translations and research on a variety of topics in Ukrainian civil society, such as media reform, judicial reform, and financial declarations for public officials. She has also had experience working in human rights NGOs such as Amnesty International and the PEN American Center.
She has professional working proficiency in Ukrainian and Mandarin, and also has knowledge of Russian.
