Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger is a German diplomat and was the German Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2006 to May 2008. From 2001 to 2006, he was the German Ambassador to the United States and from 1998 to 2001 he served as the German Deputy Foreign Minister. Ambassador Ischinger is the Chairman of the Munich Security Conference; the Global Head of Government Relations, Allianz SE, Munich; a board member of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI); a member of the European Council on Foreign Affairs (ECFR) and the Global Zero Commission, amongst others.
Since December 2009, he has been co-chair of the Euro-Atlantic Security Initiative (EASI) of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
Ambassador Ischinger is a member of the Executive Board for the European Leadership Network (ELN).
