KYIV, Nov 8 – Ukraine failed to sell OVDP discount treasury bills maturing on February 7, May 9 and November 7 at auctions on Tuesday due to the absence of any bids, the central bank said on Wednesday.

Commercial banks are discouraged from buying them due to high risks and uncertainty over the government’s ability to meet its obligations on domestic debts, dealers said.

The government failed to repay domestic bonds on time in September, although it later completely honored the debt.

The finance ministry last auctioned treasuries on October 24 when three-month papers yielded 22.99 percent. The ministry raised Hr 214,000 ($39,000).
