The non-bank financial group UNIQA Ukraine, which includes the insurance companies UNIQA and UNIQA Life, started 2017 with a significant increase in insurance premiums of 94.7 per cent in the 1st quarter.
The greatest growth was observed in property insurance and life insurance.
The total net profit after taxation amounted to UAH 17.2 million, including UNIQA IC UAH 10.7 million and UNIQA Life IC UAH 6.5 million.
Financial highlights of IQ2017
The volume of premiums of UNIQA Insurance Company in the first quarter amounted to UAH 490.4 million, which is more than double the figures for the first quarter of 2016.
The largest volumes of premiums came from: voluntary property insurance – UAH 159.8 million (+1 218.7 per cent), CASCO – UAH125.5 million(+ 22.2 per cent), voluntary medical insurance – UAH 54.4 million (+ 23.0 per cent).
The total amount of insurance claims paid out by UNIQA in IQ2017 increased by 37.7 per cent compared to IQ2016 and amounted to UAH 156 million.
Insurance reserves of the Company amounted to UAH 706.8 million. Assets that are taken to cover insurance reserves by 43.7 per cent exceed the amount of insurance reserves and amount to more than UAH 1.0 billion. The actual solvency margin is UAH 399.0 million and exceeds the normative by 98.8 per cent, which allows the Company to fulfill all its obligations to customers on time and in full.
Shareholders’ equity of UNIQA Insurance Company amounted to UAH 410.0 million.
The total volume of insurance premiums of UNIQA Life IC in the first quarter of 2017 increased by 53.8 per cent and amounted to UAH 91.5 million.
Shareholders’ equity of UNIQA Life Insurance Company in IQ2017 amounted to UAH 422.7 million. Assets increased by 7.1 per cent compared to the same period in 2016 and amounted to UAH 929.8 million. The actual reserve of solvency of the Company as of March 31, 2017 is UAH 420.6 million and exceeds the standard figure by 16.5 times.
The amount of claims paid out was UAH 5.1 million, the amount of surrender value paid to customers amounted to UAH 4.0 million.
