You're reading: Advertisement should be in Ukrainian language since January 16

Since Jan. 16, all advertisement in Ukraine (on television, radio, and in print editions) should be in Ukrainian in accordance with Article 32 of the Ukrainian law “On provision of functioning of the Ukrainian language as a state one” that was taken by Verkhovna Rada on April 25, 2019.

As the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting reported on its website, the foreign broadcasting television organizations that broadcast in the official languages of the European Union, can place advertising in these languages as well.

Moreover, advertisement in the official languages of the European Union is permitted in the print media if they are issued in these languages.

Violation of the requirements of the law will be punished with the imposition of a fine of 200 to 300 tax-free minimum incomes of citizens or by a warning if the violation is committed for the first time.
