Businessmen Rinat Akhmetov, Victor Pinchuk and Kostiantyn Zhevaho top the list of the richest Ukrainians, compiled by the Novoye Vremya magazine and the Dragon Capital investment company.
According to the ranking of the 100 richest Ukrainians, the fortune of Rinat Akhmetov, the sole stockholder of the largest Ukrainian holding SCM ($6.9 billion), grew by 68 percent over the year.
EastOne owner Victor Pinchuk has assets worth $1.4 billion (annual growth of 13 percent). MP Kostiantyn Zhevaho, a member of the board of directors of the Ferrexpo mining company, also has the same fortune, and it grew by 209 percent over the year.
Opposition Bloc faction deputy and Smart Holding owner Vadim Novinsky owns $1.2 billion, increasing his wealth by 113 percent over the year.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, whose owns the Roshen confectionery corporation, took fifth place in the ranking with a fortune of $1 billion (an increase of 7 percent compared to 2016).
Privat Group partners Ihor Kolomoisky ($1 billion) and Hennadiy Boholiubov ($763 million) lost 11 percent and 9 percent of assets respectively.
The fortune of Group DF owner Dmytro Firtash, who left Ukraine for Austria, is estimated to be worth $746 million (an increase of 14 percent).
Founder and majority shareholder of Myronivsky Hliboproduct (MHP) Yuriy Kosiuk became 10 percent richer and has assets worth $693 million. Co-owners of the chain of construction hypermarkets Epicenter-K and Nova Liniya Halyna Hereha and Oleksandr Hereha increased their fortune by 5 percent, to $688 million. They close the list of the ten richest Ukrainians.
Privat Group representative Oleksandr Martynov ($594 million), who became 11 percent richer over the year, is in 11th place in the ranking. Nibulon founder and CEO Oleksiy Vadatursky owns $587 million worth of assets, and his fortune grew by 326 percent (the magazine notes that the sharp growth of the fortune was linked to a more accurate assessment of assets).
Businessman Konstantin Grigorishin (Energy Standard Group) took 13th place with a $570 million fortune, which shrank by 2 percent. He is followed by former Environment and Natural Resources Minister Mykola Zlochevsky (Burisma Group) with $535 million (an increase of 107 percent), and Andriy Verevsky and Ruslan Verevsky (Kernel agricultural holding) with $438 million (a 5 percent decline for the year).
Oleksandr Yaroslavsky (DCH) is in 16th place with $283 million and an increase of 47 percent compared to the previous year. MP Vitaliy Khomutynnik (the Vidrodzhennia deputy group), who is the ultimate beneficiary of the Cascade-Invest investment fund, kept his fortune at the same level – $268 million.
PJSC Concern Galnaftogaz owner Vitaliy Antonov has a $255 million fortune (an increase of 7 percent). Brothers Hryhoriy and Ihor Surkis (Ukrenergoconsulting) have assets of $249 million (2 percent growth). Businessman and banker Sergiy Tigipko (TAS) increased his wealth by 111 percent, to $230 million, and is in 20th place.
Former MP and former Ukrainian Transport Minister Mykola Rudkovsky (Naftogazvydobuvannia) saw his fortune grew by 614 percent, to $207 million.
Valeriy Khoroshkovsky (Inter Media Group) is 25th, with $167 million, MP Nestor Shufrych is 26th, with $158 million (an increase of 116 percent).
The wealth of MP Serhiy Liovochkin (Inter Media Group, Zakarpattiaoblenergo) was estimated to be worth $116 million, and he is in 35th position.
The co-chairman of the Opposition Bloc party, the prime minister of the opposition government, Borys Kolesnikov (APK-Invest, Konti), is 57th in the rating, with $83 million, and Opposition Bloc leader Yuriy Boiko is 59th, with $79 million (an increase of 111 percent).
In 60th place are Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko and his brother Wladimir Klitschko (Klichko Management Group), with $75 million (a 17 percent increase).
Former Head of the Presidential Administration Borys Lozhkin, whose fortune was estimated to be worth $53 million (40 percent growth), took 80th place in the list of the richest Ukrainians.
The leader of the Ukrainian Choice – The Right of the People public movement, Viktor Medvedchuk, is in 82nd place with a $52 million fortune.
Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov (Gravelit-21) is 96th, with a wealth of $38 million.
