Ukraine in the 2019/2020 season (July-June) carried out grain shipments to 58 countries of the world. Egypt is the largest importer of Ukrainian grain, accounting for 7.09 million tonnes.

The published research paper, titled “Export of Grain from the Ports of Ukraine,” by Stark Shipping (displays the period from July 1, 2019 to June 30, 2020) shows Egypt in the 2019/2020 season increased grain imports from Ukraine by 2.3 million tonnes compared to 2018/2019 season.

China is the second largest importer of Ukrainian grain. Last season, China purchased 6.2 million tonnes, which is 1.8 million tons more than in the previous season.

Spain and the Netherlands are the main importers of Ukrainian grain among European countries. Spain in the 2019/2020 marketing year purchased 4.63 million tonnes of grain, 4.5 million tonnes – the Netherlands.

The results of the study showed that Kernel became the largest shipper of grain in the 2019-2020 season with an indicator of 7.98 million tonnes, which is 13.29% of the market. At the same time, the company increased shipments by 1.9 million tonnes over the year.

The increase in shipments was facilitated by the launch of the Transgrain terminal in the port of Chornomorsk. The company also worked through the TIS and Nika-Tera terminals.

Destinations to which the largest amount of grain was sent by Kernel: China (1.64 million tonnes), the Netherlands (1.3 million tonnes), Indonesia (0.75 million tonnes) and Egypt (0.63 million tonnes).

In second place, according to Stark Shipping, COFCO, which shipped 5 million tonnes of grain, accounting for 8.37% of the market. The company added 0.41 million tonnes over the year. COFCO operates primarily through the DSSC terminal, but is increasing its transshipment through Risoil and Vibo Trans.

As indicated in the study, Nibulon took the third place in the ranking with 4.98 million tonnes of grain sent. This season, the company continued active additional loading of vessels on the Ochakiv roadstead, and for the first time the amount of grain handled by barges (3.1 million tonnes, or 62.3%) exceeded the amount offloaded at the berth (1.87 million tonnes, or 37.7%).

According to the company, for three years in a row it has been the largest tanker agent in Ukraine.
