You're reading: Inflation in Ukraine in September rises to 1.9 percent

Consumer prices in Ukraine after a decline by 0.7 percent in July and stability in August grew by 1.9 percent in September, and since early 2018 their growth was 5.6 percent, the State Statistics Service has reported.

In annual terms (September 2018 on September 2017) inflation slightly slowed to 8.9 percent compared with 9 percent in August.

The underlying inflation in September was also 1.9 percent after 0.1 percent in August, and in January-September it reached 5.5 percent. In annual terms underlying inflation was 8.7 percent.

As reported, inflation in Ukraine in 2017 accelerated to 13.7 percent compared with 12.4 percent in 2016, which, however, is significantly lower than in the past years, in particular 43.3 percent in 2015 and 24.9 percent in 2014.

The National Bank at the end of October 2017 downgraded the forecast for inflation in 2018 from 6 percent to 7.3 percent, in January 2018 to 8.9 percent, while the Cabinet of Ministers from 7 percent to 9 percent.
