You're reading: NBU cuts purchase of foreign currency in interbank market to $142 million

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on Tuesday bought $142 million in the interbank foreign exchange market, which is 23.7% or $44 million less than on Monday, the regulator said on its Facebook page.

“We came out gunning not only to start the week, but also to continue it in this way. Today, we bought $142 million in the interbank foreign exchange market. Again, the supply of currency from the business exceeded demand. The rate fluctuated around Hr 27/$1,” the NBU said in the statement.

The National Bank said that in general, after exhausting the panic demand in the foreign exchange market, the central bank bought back $576 million to the FX reserves.
