New national construction standards, introducing European requirements to insulation of buildings’ walls took effect on December 1, 2018, the press service of Deputy Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister Lev Partskhaladze has reported.

According to the report, the new standards will allow Ukrainians to save up to 15 percent of heat annually.

“For the entire country, this savings may amount to about Hr 3 billion under the condition of energy-efficient modernization of 3 percent of all buildings annually. The more such houses are reconstructed and built, the greater the savings will be,” Partskhaladze said.

He also said that energy-efficient modernization will increase the life of buildings by 15-20%, that is, an average of 20 years.

New standards apply to the design of the exterior walls of residential, public and industrial buildings and structures during new construction, reconstruction and overhaul.
