The number of Ukrainian households that installed solar panels in 2018 more than tripled (by 4,500) and reached 7,500, the total installed equipment capacity is almost 160 MW.

According to the press service of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving, since the start of solar panel installation in the country, citizens have invested 151 million euros in household solar power plants.

The leaders in the number of household solar plants are Dnipropetrovsk region (882 units), Kyiv (838), Ternopil (664), Ivano-Frankivsk (484) and Kirovohrad (469) regions.

At the end of 2016, the capacity of domestic solar plants was only 16.7 MW.

The agency noted that the rapid growth of these indicators is associated with the law on feed-in tariffs for household solar plants adopted in 2015 (with a capacity of up to 30 kW), according to which the excess generated electricity can be sold to the market.

The feed-in tariff for households until 2017 was 19 eurocents per kWh, from 2017 some 18 eurocents, and in 2020 it will be reduced to 16.3 eurocents per kWh.
