Russians will not put Ukraine on its knees with their gas blackmail anymore, said Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

Speaking at a ceremony of symbolic launch of gas supply at the underwater high-pressure gas pipeline site in Avdiyivka, Donetsk region, he stressed that Russia will also be held accountable for the $4.6 billion it owed Ukraine according to the ruling of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

On Aug. 23, Ukraine marked 1,000 days without Russian gas under the conditions of embargo Russia applied to the country.

According to Poroshenko, the new underwater pipeline will provide seven populated localities near Avdiyivka with reliable gas supply.
