You're reading: Rada ratifies protocol on air communication with Qatar

The Verkhovna Rada has adopted a law “On Ratification of the Protocol between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the State of Qatar on Amendments and Additions to the Agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the State of Qatar on Air Traffic”.

Some 288 deputies voted for the adoption of bill No. 0061 dated August 7, 2020, the Ministry of Infrastructure said on its website.

“Ukraine is interested in cooperation in the field of transport and infrastructure with the state of Qatar. Recently, the leading Qatari company QTerminals signed a concession agreement in the port of Olvia, which provides for attracting more than Hr 17 billion in investments. Therefore, the liberalization of air transportation, which the protocol provides, is an important step for development of our relations,” Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Vladyslav Krykliy said.

Ratification of the Protocol will expand the scope of market access by designating several airlines on each side; eliminate restrictions on the number of flights, capacity and types of aircraft, checkpoints in the territories of both countries in the implementation of regular air traffic.

The protocol was signed by the authorities of Ukraine and Qatar in November 2019.
