The head of Ukrainian state energy firm Naftogaz rejected on Sept. 10 accusations by the company’s supervisory board that he was not cooperating with the board and said the company needed to elect qualified independent directors through an open competition.

Yuriy Vitrenko, the new CEO of state-owned oil and gas company Naftogaz, participates in a briefing held to announce his appointment on April 29, 2021. Vitrenko’s appointment came a surprise for Naftogaz head Andriy Kobolyev, who learned about his firing from the media. Kobolyev said he would appeal his dismissal.
