You're reading: Ukraine, Azerbaijan agree to increase quota of freight trucking permits

Ukraine and Azerbaijan, during a meeting of the joint commission on international road transport, agreed to issue additional freight trucking permits for Ukrainian carriers for the current year and increase the quota for 2022.

The press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine said on Sept. 17 that in 2021 Ukraine will receive an additional 850 universal permits and 150 for transportation to/from third countries. For 2022, the quota of universal permits was increased by 45%, to 3,200, and permits for transportation to/from third countries by 27%, to 1,400.

At the same time, the ministry said that Ukrainian carriers will receive an increased quota of Azerbaijan’s permits for the first time in the past 10 years.

During the negotiations, as indicated in the press release, the parties also discussed the current state of trade between the countries and exchanged statistical data on the trips performed by road carriers.

In addition, Azerbaijan, at the request of the Ukrainian delegation, said that, in accordance with the legislation of Azerbaijan, if the goods from a third country are not cleared through customs, but only reloaded on the territory of Ukraine, the regulatory authorities will require permits for transportation to/from third countries.
