Ukraine in 2020 reduced the export of organic products by 30% compared to 2019, to 332,000 tonnes, while increasing revenue by 7.9%, to $204 million, according to the Ukrainian-Swiss study on the organic market published by the portal organic.info.

The Netherlands, which bought 97,400 tonnes of organic products for $29.5 million, the United States (data not specified) and Germany (41,600 tonnes for $27 million), were Ukraine’s key trading partners in the past. At the same time, the largest number of contracts for the supply of organic products in 2020 was concluded with companies from Germany (43), Poland (38) and the Netherlands (26).

In total, Ukraine exports these products to 40 countries of the world, of which the European region accounted for 73% of the supplied products (in 2019 it was 85%), North America – 24%, Asia – 3%.

According to the study, Ukraine supplies about 80 organic products, the most popular are organic corn, soybeans and wheat.

In 2020, Ukraine was fourth in the supply of organic products to the EU with a share of 7.8%, providing this market with 217,200 tonnes of goods for $116.7 million, being behind to Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and China.

“Exports to Asian countries are expanding, in particular to China, Vietnam, India and Japan. The first deliveries of organic products to the Republic of Korea and Myanmar have also been made,” it is said in a report under the Swiss-Ukrainian Program “Higher Value Added Trade from the Organic and Dairy Sector in Ukraine.”
