A Cold War era bunker in Lviv has ben sold at a State Property Fund of Ukraine privatization auction for Hr 5.2 million ($191,000).

The bomb shelter, built in 1976, was purchased by local businessman and restaurateur Oleksandr Sukutun.

The sale was announced in a press release on the website of the State Property Fund.

The starting price of the auction was Hr 413,220 ($15,200), which led the fund to boast that “16 participants… raised the starting price by 12.6 times.”

The structure has an internal surface area of 79 square meters.

The statement describes the structure as “buried into the ground, built mainly from concrete and containing 10 separate rooms.”

“The current technical condition of the premises is unsatisfactory.”

This year, the SPF has already privatized more than $40 million of state-owned assets. This is three times more than the equivalent period last year.
