The population during the first month of operation of the law on currency and currency transactions (from Feb. 7 to March 6) had purchased about $52 million from banks online, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has reported on its Facebook page.
The amount of currency sale is not specified.
The National Bank also indicates that Ukrainian businesses during this time signed 105 new loan agreements under the simplified procedure (without registration at the NBU), companies and individuals invested 9.7 million euros abroad within the established limits (2 million euros per year for individuals, 50,000 euros for legal entities).
As reported, on Feb. 7, 2019 the law on currency and foreign exchange transactions came into force. It foresees the introduction of more than 20 easing items in the foreign exchange market. In particular, it allows the online purchase of foreign currency by individuals (within the limit of the purchase of cash currency of Hr 150,000 per day). At the same time, the transfer of funds in foreign currency between individuals (except relatives) will remain banned as before.
