The volume of sales of cash currency by the population in January exceeded the purchase volume by $102.4 million, according to the website of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU).
According to the regulator, in January 2020 compared to December 2019 Ukrainians reduced the purchase of cash currency by 11.6%, to the equivalent of $1.314 billion, sales by 15.1%, to the equivalent of $1.416 billion.
As reported, in general in 2019 the dynamics of prevalence of the sale of cash currency over the purchase remained, the difference between which amounted to $177 million. The volume of the cash market as a whole grew by more than 40%, according to the National Bank.
In particular, in December 2019 Ukrainians sold $181.5 million more currency than they bought, while in November the purchase of foreign currency by the population was $58.4 million higher than the sale, and in October the figure stood at $91.5 million.
