One in six industrial enterprises in Ukraine (16.2 percent), with an average number of employees of over 50 people, was engaged in innovation activity in 2017, and expenses on innovation amounted to Hr 9.1 billion, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.
In particular, Hr 5.9 billion (64.7 percent of the total amount of innovation costs) was spent on the purchase of machines, equipment and software, Hr 2.2 billion (23.8 percent) on internal and external research and development, and Hr 21.8 million (0.2 percent) on the purchase of other external knowledge (purchase of new technologies).
