The mobile operator Vodafone Ukraine has launched the LTE (4G) network in the 900 MHz band in Kyiv region, providing high-speed Internet to 69 more small settlements, where almost 45,000 people live.

The company said last week that the 4G network from Vodafone Ukraine in the 900 MHz band already operates in more than 1,600 settlements and covers over 1 million people living in Odesa, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Zakarpattia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Lviv, Ternopil, Rivne, Volyn, Chernivtsi and Kyiv regions.

“Earlier, in small settlements where the LTE 900 MHz network was built, the EDGE user speed was less than 0.5 Mbit per second. After the launch of the LTE 900 MHz network, the speed increased to 48 Mbit per second. This opens up new opportunities for online education, medicine, leisure activities, which is especially important in conditions of quarantine, stimulates the development of entrepreneurship and the economy as a whole,” the company said.

In August, Vodafone Ukraine also expanded its 4G LTE network in the 1800 MHz and 900 MHz bands in 18 regions of Ukraine. More than 570,000 residents in 660 settlements of the country received access to high-speed Internet.

By the end of 2020, the operator plans to launch the LTE network in the 900 MHz band in all regions of Ukraine.
