With presidential elections now less than two months away, the field of contenders is filling up. The latest edition to the race, the former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, announced her candidacy on March 27. While she’s expected to be a front-runner, she will come up against a group that includes businessman Petro Poroshenko and boxer-turned-politician Vitali Klitschko, both of whom are leading her in the latest polls.
Also in the race are the familiar faces of Serhiy Tihipko, Yuriy Boiko and Mikhail Dobkin, all former supporters of ousted President Viktor Yanukovych. A few other familiar names have also thrown their hats into the ring, such as Communist leader Petro Symonenko and Vadym Rabynovych.
But there are several new faces, like Dr. Olha Bohomolets and former First Deputy Chief Prosecutor Rinat Kuzmin. There are even more believed to be contenders. They include: Ukrainian Choice head and Vladimir Putin pal Viktor Medvedchuk, Svoboda leader Oleh Tiahnybok, former Defense Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko, Radical Party leader Oleh Lyashko and Femen founder Inna Shevchenko.
