Fighters battling a government-led offensive in southern Syria have agreed to a ceasefire deal with Russia, a major ally of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, according to a rebel spokesman.

Ibrahim Jabawi told Reuters news agency that July 6’s agreement in eastern parts of Deraa province includes a withdrawal of government militias from several towns in the south.
