MINSK – The Belarusian head of the upcoming Zapad (West)-2017 joint strategic exercise, Chief of the General Staff and First Deputy Defense Minister Oleg Belokonev held a working meeting to discuss preparations for the exercise.
“The meeting focused, in particular, on details of the areas of joint work with Russia during the upcoming reconnaissance. Maj. Gen. Oleg Belokonev also clarified the tasks of readying the troops and training sites, noting that the preparations are entering the concluding stage,” the Belarusian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
The joint Russian-Belarusian strategic exercise is due to be held this September. It is a routine event that is held every two years.
