The U.S. government said the Glencore-Rosneft deal wasn’t what it was hoping for when it imposed sanctions on Russia, with a senior official saying Washington and Brussels will need to review the deal and how it’s financed.
“We are looking at it and what its implications are,” Amos Hochstein, U.S. special envoy for international energy affairs, said on Bloomberg TV on Dec. 8. “If there is a violation, it will be handled and done in an aggressive manner.”
